February brings the season of LOVE to the beach resort area of Ocean City. Love for your sweetheart and every guy's second love - his boat. Well, maybe not EVERY - but quite a few, and lot's of gals, too.
The Seaside Boat Show has been creating (and fulfilling) dreams at the beach for nearly three decades. It takes over much of the Ocean City Convention Center and has hundreds of boats and more hundreds of nautical items for browsing, shopping and buying.
Valentine's Day is usually celebrated the weekend of, or before, the 14th and the Seaside Boat Show, the largest boast show on the Eastern Shore (Delmarva) is always on Presidents' Day weekend. Many people combine the events and come to stay in the Ocean City area for the 3-day weekend - often opting for the luxury of the Hilton Suites at 33rd Street on the ocean or the Clarion Resort Fontainebleau Hotel, also on the beach, at 101st Street. Some like the location, beachfront at 117th Street, and indoor skating rink of the Carousel Hotel. However, no matter where you may choose to stay you can have a great weekend in Ocean City.
Too woo your Honey, the beach resort area still has plenty to do. Often the weather will cooperate with a preview of Spring - allowing you a romantic stroll on the beach - bundled up and cozy, of course. The theaters are open all year and the better restaurants are, not only open, but often welcome their customers with sweet off-season specials. And, of course, there's always shopping at the outlets - West Ocean City and/or Rehoboth Beach (no sales tax in Delaware, remember).
