Surfing grows in popularity every year in Ocean City. After a storm it seems like everybody in town is found waxing their boards and paddling into the Atlantic.
The wind provided by the near-miss of Hurricane Ernesto, was no exception, and provided some of the largest waves seen in Ocean City in quite some time. (Photos on this page were shot approximately 36 hours after Ernesto's wind subsided.)
During the summer season there are two beach areas designated as surfing beaches. These surfing beaches are rotated daily and are found for one block each in the north end of town and the south end of town.
