Flying a kite is not just for kids. In fact, it is truly a family-friendly activity. But frequently the older 'kids' seem to have all the fun.
Ocean City Kite Festival activities include a 'Learn to Fly' field, Candy Drops, Running of the Bols, Ground Displays, Rokkaku (fighting kite) Challenges, and Open Outdoor Unlimited judging. The Mid-Atlantic Stunt Kite Championships (MASKC) were attracting a crowd - at the Division Street location. There is even a children's workshop for making a sled kite.
Many of the activities are sponsored by kite manufacturers, such as Premiere Kites, Go Fly A Kite, New Tech Kites, and HQ kites. Many kiting organizations, like Wings Over Washington (WOW), the Lehigh Valley Kite Society, and the F.O.G Flyers participate in the events. The giant kites flown by Larger Than Life Kites were one of the hits of the festival. This is definitely one of the times we can say, 'A good time was had by all.'

One of the "wow-factor" kites are the giants - like this 130 ft. red "OLO the Octopus," a Peter Flynn design, flying over the sand and surf. It certainly helped to brighten up the sky over the beach.
